Habemus Papam!  We have a Pope!

The Cardinals chose Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany, 78 years old, as our new Pope.  He has chosen to be known as Pope Benedict XVI.  Let us pray to the Lord for our new Pope.  Mass will be celebrated for the new Pope on April 20 and 27, Wednesdays at 06:30 PM.

Prayer for the New Pope
God our Father, shepherd and guide, look with love on Pope Benedict XVI, your servant, the pastor of your Church. May his word and example inspire and guide the Church, and may he, and all those entrusted to his care, come to the joy of everlasting life.  Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.  Amen.

Pope Benedict XVI’s First Greeting to the Public
Dear Brothers and Sisters, after the great Pope John Paul II, the Cardinals have elected me, a simple and humble laborer in the vineyard of the Lord. The fact that the Lord knows how to work and to act even with inadequate instruments comforts me, and above all I entrust myself to your prayers  Let us move forward in the joy of the Risen Lord, confident of his unfailing help. The Lord will help us and Mary, his Most Holy Mother, will be on our side. Thank you.

Prayer for all Mothers
Dear God, we thank You for our mothers to whom You have entrusted the care of every precious human life.  Grant that every woman may come to understand that You have blessed them the capacity of sharing with You in the creation of a new life.  Please watch over every mother who is with child, strengthen them and their unborn babies. Give them courage in times of fear or pain, understanding in times of uncertainty and doubt, and hope in times of trouble. Grant them joy in the birth of their children.  To all mothers You have given the great privilege and responsibility of being a child's first teacher and spiritual guide. May all mothers worthily foster the faith of their children, following the example of Mary, our Heavenly Mother. Help them to grow daily in knowledge and in understanding.  Grant them the wisdom to impart this knowledge faithfully to their children, and to all of us who depend upon them.  We ask this through Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

Messages/Announcements:

1.      It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8.  Please bring flowers for the Mama Mary.  If we will be blessed with a good weather on that day, we will have a procession to the grotto right after the Mass.
